Specialized liquid nutrition

Nepro® is a nutritionally complete liquid formula with a vitamin and mineral profile specifically designed for people with chronic or acute renal failure requiring dialysis. For patients with both renal failure and diabetes. For patients with renal failure requiring dialysis. For patients with chronic kidney disease (Stage 5). For supplemental or as a sole source of nutrition. For oral or tube feeding use.

Preparation

Instructions for use:

All Formulated Liquid Diet products, regardless of type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.

NOTE: Failure to follow the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE increases the potential for microbial contamination and may reduce hangtime.

237-mL Bottle

Oral Feeding:

  • May be used for supplemental or sole source of nutrition. May be fed at room temperature or chilled.

Tube Feeding:

  • Pump feeding is recommended, feed at room temperature with an 8 Fr or larger tube.
  • Follow health care professional instructions for flow rate, volume and need for additional fluids.
  • Care should be taken to avoid contamination during preparation and administration.

Ready to Hang

  • Pump feeding is recommended; use an 8 Fr or larger tube. Gravity feeding is not recommended.
  • Administer product at room temperature.
  • THOROUGHLY wash hands with soap and water before handling container or feeding set.
  • Turn container upside down and SHAKE VIGOROUSLY, using a twisting motion, for at least 10 seconds.
  • DO NOT touch any part of container or feeding set that comes in contact with the formula.
  • When initiating feeding, follow health care professional's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient’s condition and tolerance.
  • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.

For use with enteral feeding pump:

  • Remove protective cover from READY-TO-HANG (RTH) Safety Screw Cap.
  • Remove protective cover from feeding set connector.
  • Insert feeding set connector into port of RTH Safety Screw Cap and pierce foil.
  • Turn feeding set connector collar clockwise until it is securely fastened.
  • Close clamp on feeding set before inverting container.
  • Invert container and suspend, using hanging ring on bottom of container.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Follow directions for use provided by manufacturer of feeding sets.
  • Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang product for up to 48 hours after initial connection when clean technique and only one new set are used. Otherwise hang for no more than 24 hours.
STORAGE

237-mL Bottle

  • Store unopened at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Once opened, store covered in refrigerator and use within 48 hours.
  • When carefully poured from the bottle into an enteral feeding setup, hang for 8–12 hours.1

Preparation

Instructions for use:

All Formulated Liquid Diet products, regardless of type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.

NOTE: Failure to follow the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE increases the potential for microbial contamination and may reduce hangtime.

237-mL Bottle

Oral Feeding:

  • May be used for supplemental or sole source of nutrition. May be fed at room temperature or chilled.

Tube Feeding:

  • Pump feeding is recommended, feed at room temperature with an 8 Fr or larger tube.
  • Follow health care professional instructions for flow rate, volume and need for additional fluids.
  • Care should be taken to avoid contamination during preparation and administration.

Ready to Hang

  • Pump feeding is recommended; use an 8 Fr or larger tube. Gravity feeding is not recommended.
  • Administer product at room temperature.
  • THOROUGHLY wash hands with soap and water before handling container or feeding set.
  • Turn container upside down and SHAKE VIGOROUSLY, using a twisting motion, for at least 10 seconds.
  • DO NOT touch any part of container or feeding set that comes in contact with the formula.
  • When initiating feeding, follow health care professional's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient’s condition and tolerance.
  • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.

For use with enteral feeding pump:

  • Remove protective cover from READY-TO-HANG (RTH) Safety Screw Cap.
  • Remove protective cover from feeding set connector.
  • Insert feeding set connector into port of RTH Safety Screw Cap and pierce foil.
  • Turn feeding set connector collar clockwise until it is securely fastened.
  • Close clamp on feeding set before inverting container.
  • Invert container and suspend, using hanging ring on bottom of container.

Precautions:

  • Follow directions for use provided by manufacturer of feeding sets.
  • Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang product for up to 48 hours after initial connection when clean technique and only one new set are used. Otherwise hang for no more than 24 hours.
STORAGE

237-mL Bottle

  • Store unopened at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Once opened, store covered in refrigerator and use within 48 hours.
  • When carefully poured from the bottle into an enteral feeding setup, hang for 8–12 hours.1
