Calorically dense liquid formula for people with diabetes

Glucerna® 1.2 Cal is a specialized calorically dense formula designed to help reduce glucose response compared to a standard 1.2 Cal/mL formula.1 For patients with diabetes, prediabetes, or stress-induced hyperglycemia. Preparation

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

All formulated liquid diet products, regardless of type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.

NOTE: Failure to follow the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE increases the potential for microbial contamination and may reduce hang time.

237-mL Carton

Store unopened at room temperature. Shake well before opening. Once opened, reclose, refrigerate and use within 48 hours.

Oral Feeding:

May be fed at room temperature or chilled. Serving Glucerna® chilled enhances its flavour.

Tube Feeding:

Feed at room temperature, by pump or gravity, with a 10 Fr or larger tube. If a smaller tube is used, monitor closely. Follow health care professional instructions for flow rate, volume and need for additional fluids. Care should be taken to avoid contamination during preparation and administration.

1 L Ready-to-Hang Container

Store away from heat. Avoid freezing. Shake well before each use.

  • Pump or gravity feeding is recommended. Use a 10 Fr or larger tube. If smaller tube, monitor closely.
  • Administer product at room temperature.
  • THOROUGHLY wash hands with soap and water before handling container or feeding set.
  • SHAKE CONTAINER VIGOROUSLY upside down for at least 10 seconds.
  • DO NOT touch any part of container or feeding set that comes in contact with the formula.
  • Visually inspect for signs of leakage. DO NOT use if leakage is apparent.
  • When initiating feeding, follow health care professional's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient’s condition and tolerance.
  • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.

When using an enteral feeding pump:

  • Remove protective cover from READY-TO-HANG (RTH) Safety Screw Cap.
  • Remove protective cover from feeding set connector.
  • Insert feeding set connector into port of RTH Safety Screw Cap and pierce foil.
  • Turn feeding set connector collar clockwise until it is securely fastened.
  • Close clamp on feeding set before inverting container.
  • Invert container and suspend, using hanging ring on bottom of container.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Follow directions for use provided by manufacturer of feeding sets.
  • Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang product for up to 48 hours after initial connection when clean technique and only one new set are used. Otherwise, hang for no more than 24 hours.

Preparation

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

All formulated liquid diet products, regardless of type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.

NOTE: Failure to follow the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE increases the potential for microbial contamination and may reduce hang time.

Store unopened at room temperature. Shake well before opening. Once opened, reclose, refrigerate and use within 48 hours.

Oral Feeding:

May be fed at room temperature or chilled. Serving Glucerna® chilled enhances its flavour.

Tube Feeding:

Feed at room temperature, by pump or gravity, with a 10 Fr or larger tube. If a smaller tube is used, monitor closely. Follow health care professional instructions for flow rate, volume and need for additional fluids. Care should be taken to avoid contamination during preparation and administration.

1 L Ready-to-Hang Container

Store away from heat. Avoid freezing. Shake well before each use.

  • Pump or gravity feeding is recommended. Use a 10 Fr or larger tube. If smaller tube, monitor closely.
  • Administer product at room temperature.
  • THOROUGHLY wash hands with soap and water before handling container or feeding set.
  • SHAKE CONTAINER VIGOROUSLY upside down for at least 10 seconds.
  • DO NOT touch any part of container or feeding set that comes in contact with the formula.
  • Visually inspect for signs of leakage. DO NOT use if leakage is apparent.
  • When initiating feeding, follow health care professional's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient’s condition and tolerance.
  • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.

When using an enteral feeding pump:

  • Remove protective cover from READY-TO-HANG (RTH) Safety Screw Cap.
  • Remove protective cover from feeding set connector.
  • Insert feeding set connector into port of RTH Safety Screw Cap and pierce foil.
  • Turn feeding set connector collar clockwise until it is securely fastened.
  • Close clamp on feeding set before inverting container.
  • Invert container and suspend, using hanging ring on bottom of container.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Follow directions for use provided by manufacturer of feeding sets.
  • Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang product for up to 48 hours after initial connection when clean technique and only one new set are used. Otherwise, hang for no more than 24 hours.
